Device Turns Water Heaters Into Bitcoin Miners
The new Bitwater component uses mining chips to heat water and generate digital assets at the same time

The company Heatbit has launched a component for electric water heaters that mines Bitcoin during the heating process. The device, called Bitwater, replaces the tank's conventional heating element with 20 BM1370 mining chips.
The equipment operates at a power of up to 600 watts and delivers a processing capacity of 34 terahashes per second. The water in the tank acts as a cooling system for the chips. This method eliminates the need for fans and makes the operation silent.
The installation is aimed at the end consumer and is compatible with 30 to 80-gallon tanks in the United States and Canada. The product works on models from various brands without requiring changes to the electrical grid or existing plumbing.
Heating occurs more slowly than with traditional 4,500-watt elements. The tank's original system remains as a backup for times of higher hot water demand.
Interested users can monitor temperature and earnings through a dedicated app. The initial batch is in the pre-sale phase with deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2027.
