Bitcoin fell below the $81,000 mark on October 22 during a sell-off that impacted various asset classes. The Nasdaq index dropped more than 2% during the same period. Gold and silver also recorded significant declines of 2.7% and 5.8% respectively.

The yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes fell below 5%. This movement represented the largest daily decline in over two years. The rise in government bond prices reflects a search for safety that draws capital away from assets considered more volatile.

The atypical correlation between stocks and precious metals suggests a shift in investor allocation. The dollar index reached its lowest level since early October. Even with the drop in bond yields, which historically favors gold, the metal retreated alongside cryptocurrencies.

The corporate sector also showed evidence of financial stress. Meta shares fell about 8% following the release of quarterly results. The cost of protection against defaults for major technology companies reached record levels or neared historic peaks.

The migration of capital to the sovereign debt market alters global liquidity dynamics. This scenario increases Bitcoin volatility by reducing the appetite for speculative assets during times of macroeconomic uncertainty.
