Crypto Super PAC Faces Defeats in Legislative Elections
The Fairshake committee saw allied candidates lose in key US races
The Fairshake political action committee, the primary financial arm of the crypto industry, saw its recent investments lose effectiveness. More than a third of the funds deployed by the organization failed to achieve the expected electoral outcome across several states.
Representative Bill Huizenga, vice-chair of the House Financial Services Committee, lost his reelection bid despite receiving about 1 million dollars from the group. Democrat Sean McCann won the race in Michigan's fourth district by a margin of approximately 7,000 votes.
Other industry allies in Congress were also defeated at the polls. Bryan Steil, chair of the digital assets subcommittee, lost to Mitchell Berman. In addition, lawmakers Ann Wagner and Zach Nunn also failed to retain their seats.
Fairshake had allocated at least 1 million dollars to each of the six House incumbents supported in October. All 32 candidates backed by the network voted in favor of the CLARITY Act when the bill passed the House in July 2025.
With Democrats winning control of the House, leadership of the financial services committee will change hands. The election results alter the power dynamics for the advancement of regulatory agendas regarding digital assets in the US legislature.
