Volkswagen reported a loss of 5.8 billion euros for the third quarter. This negative result marks a significant worsening compared to the same period last year when the loss was 1.1 billion euros.

The automaker is facing growing difficulties in maintaining its market share in China. Local competition has put pressure on the operations of the company which includes brands such as Audi, Seat, and Skoda.

Beyond the struggle in China, the company is dealing with high costs related to the transition to electric vehicles. Global demand for automobiles also shows a downward trend for the automotive group.

Company management had already issued warnings regarding a 10 billion euro impact on annual profit. The financial performance reflects the structural challenges currently faced by the European automotive industry.

Instability in large European industrial corporations may increase risk aversion in global markets and strengthen the search for reserve assets such as the dollar and Bitcoin.
