The prediction market platform Kalshi has established an agreement with S&P Dow Jones Indices. The contract allows the exchange to offer financial products based on the provider's official benchmarks.
The goal of this collaboration is to create event contracts that use index values as the basis for settlement. The companies also plan to explore the development of new indices that utilize Kalshi's forecast data to measure expectations regarding political and economic events.
This move is part of a broader trend of increased participation from traditional financial institutions in the prediction market sector. Intercontinental Exchange and Nasdaq have also recently launched initiatives to offer contracts with similar structures.
In parallel, S&P Global has completed its acquisition of the blockchain security firm OpenZeppelin. The company, which focuses on smart contract auditing, will operate as a standalone business unit under the S&P Global Ratings structure.
S&P Global's expansion into the digital asset sector includes the launch of a framework to evaluate crypto-asset lending vaults. This structure analyzes risks related to governance, liquidity, and blockchain network security.
