Microsoft has launched a voluntary buyout program targeting approximately 60,000 employees. The measure covers staff in the United States, Canada, India, and the United Kingdom holding positions at level 70 or below.

This move aims to balance the company's cash flow in light of high spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure. The firm has invested heavily in building data centers to meet the processing demands of partners such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

This program represents about 27% of Microsoft's global workforce. The company had already cut 4,800 positions in July and implemented a voluntary retirement program earlier this year.

Eligible employees have until December to decide on the offer. Those who accept will leave the organization on December 31. Management states that the initiative aims to provide greater flexibility to workers during the company's internal evolution.

Although Microsoft maintains a positive free cash flow, the amount fell 23% year-over-year. The market is closely monitoring these cost adjustments as a reflection of the financial pressure caused by the global technology race.
