Russia launched an overnight offensive targeting transport infrastructure in Kyiv. The attack involved 16 ballistic missiles and over 280 drones against the Ukrainian capital. A major bridge was struck and emergency crews reported difficulties at the scene.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the action as a severe escalation against Ukrainian logistics. Beyond Kyiv, the cities of Kharkiv and Pavlohrad reported deaths and injuries. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the targets included logistics centers and industrial sites with alleged military use.
Simultaneously, the leaders of Finland and Norway held a phone call with Vladimir Putin. The goal was to convey messages regarding future peace negotiations ahead of technical meetings scheduled for November in Abu Dhabi. Zelenskyy also spoke with European leaders about the need to reduce attacks on energy facilities.
the conflict has expanded to areas near the border, with a drone strike in the Russian city of Bryansk. In the Zaporizhzhia region, a bus was hit by a drone, resulting in casualties. Both sides are preparing for meetings mediated by the United States next month.
The Finnish and Norwegian leaders emphasized that the outcome of the war directly affects their countries' security. They reinforced the importance of an immediate de-escalation to allow diplomatic talks to progress. Military support for Ukraine remains a priority for both Nordic governments.
