Two Texas brothers were sentenced to a combined total of 326 months in prison for a violent robbery in Minnesota. Raymond and Isiah Garcia broke into a residence in September 2025 and held a family at gunpoint for nine hours.

The criminals demanded access to the owner's cryptocurrency accounts. They forced the victim to perform digital asset transfers after failing to obtain the expected amount initially. The man was taken to a cabin to hand over physical hardware wallets under duress.

The total stolen exceeded 8 million dollars in crypto assets. The escape occurred after the victim's son managed to contact the authorities. Both men were later detained near Houston and confessed to the crimes in June of this year.

Authorities classify the case as a direct physical attack to obtain private keys. This type of crime has been growing as the appreciation of digital assets attracts the attention of criminal groups. Reports show dozens of similar violent incidents recorded in the first half of 2026 alone.

The sentence reinforces the American judicial system's stance on treating crypto asset extortion as a serious violent crime. The rise in physical attacks against digital asset holders increases personal security risks for investors who keep large volumes in private wallets.
