Hundreds of Oleshky Civilians Reach Belarus After Truce

Hundreds of residents from the Ukrainian city of Oleshky, currently under Russian occupation, have arrived in the city of Gomel, Belarus. The relocation was carried out via four aircraft following a journey that included ground transport to the Russian city of Anapa.

The operation was made possible by a rare regional truce that allows civilians to leave a region marked by shortages of food and medicine. The evacuation process involved the use of bus convoys and flights coordinated under a humanitarian agreement.

Rescue teams and Red Cross volunteers awaited the group on Belarusian soil to provide medical assistance. The civilians are expected to head toward Ukrainian territory through the Novaya Guta checkpoint in the coming hours.

The agreement offered the approximately 2,000 residents the option to migrate to areas controlled by Ukraine or Russia. Those who chose to remain in the city received basic supplies to replenish local stocks.
