Stablecoin transfer volume reached $891 billion in the third quarter of 2026. This figure represents a fourfold increase compared to the start of 2023. The average movement hit $400 million per hour during the analyzed period.
Data shows that 73% of monitored transactions occurred outside traditional US banking hours. This includes operations conducted during nights, weekends, and holidays. The growth reflects a shift in how companies and financial institutions process payments.
Seven of the ten largest American banks have conducted tests with stablecoins or tokenized deposits for settlement. Among mid-sized companies operating in the international market, 30% are already using or testing the technology. Business-to-business payment volume grew 36% year-over-year.
The stablecoin network counts 293 million active blockchain addresses. This number exceeds the total amount of cards issued by American Express and Discover. Researchers warn that a single address does not necessarily equate to an individual user.
The migration of international transactions to stablecoin networks could unlock $3 trillion in bank liquidity. The movement impacts the efficiency of the global financial system by reducing costs and settlement times. Large-scale adoption may alter the dynamics of traditional bank lending.
