A wallet linked to the attack on the Drift protocol moved $61 million in Ether to the Tornado Cash service. The operation took place over a two-hour window last Tuesday. The address had been inactive for two months prior to this transfer.

The attack on Drift occurred on April 1 and caused losses of approximately $295 million. An investigation conducted by the security firm Mandiant attributed the breach to the North Korean group UNC6862. This incident is classified as the third-largest crypto hack of 2026.

The attacker still holds about 81,454 units of Ether in their wallets. The total value of these remaining assets is estimated at $194 million. The use of mixers like Tornado Cash is intended to hinder the tracking of stolen capital flows.

The Drift protocol began the redemption process for affected users in October through recovery tokens. The compensation fund receives a portion of the exchange revenue and any funds recovered from the attack. The crypto market is reacting to these events with increased caution regarding the security of decentralized protocols and the liquidity of assets associated with illicit activities.
