US Treasury yields saw a decline at the start of the week. The shift comes as the market assesses the domestic inflation landscape and recent geopolitical developments.
The 10-year Treasury yield dropped more than 2 basis points to 5.0729%. The 30-year bond also fell by 2 basis points to 5.4122%. The 2-year note remained steady at 4.7273%.
Recent data shows wholesale prices rose 6.3% annually. Consumer costs increased 3.7% in September. These figures topped previous estimates and keep concerns alive regarding the US economy.
Oil prices declined during the same period. West Texas Intermediate futures fell 2.05% and Brent crude dropped 2.65%. The change reflects expectations of increased Russian oil supply in the global market.
The financial market now projects a probability higher than 85% that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady at its next meeting. The committee decision is scheduled for October 28. New data on the housing sector will be released this Tuesday.
