The bankrupt exchange Mt. Gox has pushed back its repayment deadline for creditors to October 31, 2027. The decision was approved by a Japanese court after trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi reported ongoing administrative difficulties.

This marks the fourth consecutive delay in the asset recovery process that began with the platform's collapse in 2014. The original schedule aimed to complete distributions by October 2023, but the deadline has been repeatedly moved in subsequent years.

The trustee stated that the extension covers base, early, and intermediate payment types. While many creditors have already received their assets, others continue to face bureaucratic hurdles or technical processing errors.

The official announcement did not establish a specific new timeline for individual distributions. The stated goal is to allow the trustee to resolve pending claims that remain unsettled due to compliance issues or systemic problems.

Since July 2024, the exchange has conducted Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash transfers through partner exchanges. More than 19,500 creditors had been paid by March 2025, yet a significant portion of those affected is still waiting for the release of their funds after more than a decade.
