Global central banks are adjusting their gold reserves through divergent strategies. Russia and Kazakhstan have recently opted to sell portions of their precious metal stockpiles.

Russia reduced its reserves by approximately 6.2 tons in September alone. Since the beginning of this year, the country has already decreased its gold volume by about 62 tons.

The current pace of Russian sales is comparable to the trend observed in 1998. At that time, the country liquidated 118 tons of gold over a three-month period to address fiscal challenges.

In contrast, Poland and China are following an opposite path by increasing their holdings. These nations are seeking to strengthen their reserves amid a landscape of economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

The movement of large state reserves can increase volatility in the precious metals market.
