The theft of session cookies has become a core strategy for digital criminals. These files act as keys that keep access open on websites and apps after a user's initial login.

When an attacker captures this data, they can impersonate the account owner without triggering security alerts. This method allows them to bypass multi-factor authentication systems and access sensitive financial information directly.

The process occurs through malicious software inadvertently installed on the victim's device. Once active, the malware extracts files from the browser and sends the access keys to the criminals.

Security data shows that billions of cookies circulate in stolen databases across the internet. The risk increases when a user keeps sessions open for long periods or does not end access correctly after use.

Session hijacking can compromise the integrity of digital assets and investment accounts by allowing unauthorized transactions. Weak cookie management increases exposure to attacks that ignore traditional identity protection layers.
