Oil and gas giants reported record profits in the third quarter. Chevron saw its net income jump nearly 200% to reach 9.9 billion dollars. Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil doubled its earnings to 15.4 billion dollars during the same period.

This financial performance reflects the rise in global diesel prices. The fuel became more expensive due to attacks on refineries in Russia and the Middle East. This scenario created a gap in world supply that American companies are working to fill.

Refineries in the United States are operating at levels near 100% capacity. Chevron processed record volumes of crude oil while Exxon reached one of the highest diesel production levels in its history in the Gulf of Mexico. Jet fuel output also showed significant growth.

BP is using part of these extraordinary gains to reduce corporate debt. Meanwhile, other companies in the sector are choosing to distribute more resources to shareholders. International production for some firms saw slight declines due to current geopolitical tensions.

Rising energy costs and instability in producing regions increase global inflationary pressure. This environment of geopolitical uncertainty may boost the search for safe-haven assets and influence dollar volatility against emerging market currencies.
