Forces loyal to Yemen's internationally recognized government captured military positions and strategic high ground east of al-Hazm. The operation took place in al-Jawf province. The 1st Emergency Brigade seized caches of weapons and ammunition during the advance.
The military command reported that Houthi soldiers were killed or captured during the clashes. Armored vehicles belonging to the opposing group were also destroyed in the assault. The Houthis claimed they halted the progress of government troops in al-Jawf and the neighboring province of Marib.
The al-Jawf region holds strategic importance due to its border with Saudi Arabia. The area is positioned near the provinces of Sanaa and Saada. The offensive is part of the Yemen Dawn Operation, which began in October to reclaim territories lost since 2014.
The conflict extends across other fronts, including fighting around the city of Taiz and airstrikes in Hodeidah. The humanitarian crisis is worsening as essential routes for food and medical supplies remain blocked. Hospitals face extreme difficulties in treating the civilian population and displaced persons.
More than 290,000 people have abandoned their homes since hostilities escalated in August. The situation affects thousands of refugees and displaced families who rely on humanitarian aid. The flow of vital supplies remains compromised by road closures and ongoing armed combat.
