Groups linked to the cryptocurrency sector have allocated over $200 million for the 2026 U.S. legislative elections. The primary goal is to pressure Congress for clearer and more favorable legislation regarding digital assets.
The Fairshake political action committee is leading these financial contributions. The organization has selected 33 candidates for the House of Representatives, including 19 Republicans and 14 Democrats. Six incumbent lawmakers each received at least $1 million for their campaigns.
Industry firms such as the exchange Coinbase are the main backers of this strategy. The company contributed $25 million to the 2025 efforts. CEO Brian Armstrong has also made significant personal donations to strengthen the influence network.
The sector aims to overcome obstacles faced during the current legislative cycle. Bills intended to establish market structures for digital assets lost momentum in the Senate in September. The industry argues that modernizing the financial system is essential to increase transaction efficiency.
