Users in Kyiv received fake notifications about nuclear and chemical threats following a system breach.

Ukraine's official air alert application was targeted by a cyberattack this past Sunday. Users in Kyiv received false notifications regarding radiation risks and chemical attacks.

The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed hostile interference within the system. The fake messages circulated in both Ukrainian and Russian throughout the evening. The government emphasized that there is no real danger of radiation or street combat.

In addition to the app notifications, loudspeakers in the Lviv region broadcasted improper audio alerts. Local authorities urged the population to ignore warnings received through the platform and to seek information only from official channels.

Ukrainian intelligence is investigating the technical failure and the unauthorized access. The application is maintained by the Ministry of Digital Transformation to report real attacks. The government advised citizens not to click on suspicious links sent via notifications.

Events that heighten geopolitical tension and uncertainty regarding regional security tend to increase risk aversion in global markets. This scenario may pressure the dollar as a store of value and generate volatility in Bitcoin prices.
