Bitcoin surpassed the $81,500 mark shortly after the opening of the Wall Street market. The appreciation followed the release of robust third-quarter Gross Domestic Product data for the United States.
The U.S. economy grew by 3.4 percent, exceeding the initial expectation of 3.2 percent. The Personal Consumption Expenditures price index, monitored by the Federal Reserve, rose by 0.5 percent compared to August.
The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged in the 3.75 to 4 percent range. Chairman Kevin Warsh noted that economic activity remains strong despite persistent inflation and global geopolitical uncertainties.
Tech stock performance contrasted with the optimism in the cryptocurrency market. Alphabet shares fell 12 percent after reporting quarterly revenue results that missed analyst expectations.
Analysts observe that Bitcoin faces a technical barrier near $81,400. The asset continues to show volatile behavior while testing key weekly resistance levels.
