South Korea's Kospi index climbed 6.6% on Wednesday. The move was driven by the financial performance of SK Hynix, which beat market projections and renewed global interest in artificial intelligence stocks.
SK Hynix recorded an operating profit of 83.3 trillion won in the quarter ending in September. This result represents a sevenfold increase compared to the previous period and exceeded analyst estimates.
The company also unveiled plans to distribute 60 trillion won to shareholders through dividends and stock buybacks. The firm stated that its memory chip production capacity is fully booked through 2029.
Supply shortages are expected to persist until at least 2030 according to the manufacturer. The optimism spread to other sector stocks, such as Samsung Electronics, which rose 9% in local trading.
The positive effect reached the American market during pre-market hours. Companies like Micron Technology and SanDisk saw a 4% valuation increase as they reflected the Asian data.
This scenario of strong demand for hardware infrastructure may raise risk perception in technology assets and impact capital flow toward Bitcoin and higher volatility assets.
