The Cardano protocol has reached a critical juncture in its financial governance. Data shows that 457.4 million ADA have been withdrawn from the treasury, leaving only 8.5% of the authorized spending limit available until July 2027.
The 500 million ADA cap was established by the Net Change Limit agreement. This pact covers the period between February 2026 and July 2027. The system only accounts for completed withdrawals and does not allow refunds or new capital inflows to increase the spending ceiling.
Although the total treasury holds approximately 1.38 billion ADA, governance is restricted by the approved withdrawal cap. New funding requests, such as a 22 million ADA proposal, could quickly exhaust the remaining available balance.
Decisions regarding the allocation of these resources depend on votes from delegated representatives. The network constitution requires that any capital movement strictly adhere to the current limit. The constitutional committee monitors whether governance actions follow established rules to avoid violations of the statute.
The tightening of liquidity available for new projects may create uncertainty regarding the future development of the ecosystem. The restriction on treasury cash flow alters the risk perception regarding the execution of new protocols and the long-term sustainability of initiatives funded by the network.
