Cardano Integrates Leios Protocol Code to Boost Scalability
Developers merged core components to increase network processing capacity by up to 15 times.

The Cardano development team has integrated fundamental components of the Leios scalability system into the network's main development branch. The project combines the current consensus protocol with new structures to increase the volume of processed transactions.
Developers merged Praos2 with the LeiosNotify and LeiosFetch modules. These tools allow network nodes to exchange the information needed to handle additional batches of data. Work on selecting and retrieving those endorser blocks remains outstanding.
The implementation will occur through the Dijkstra hard fork. Input Output's initial goal is to increase capacity by three to five times. Subsequent adjustments aim to reach an increase of 10 to 15 times compared to the 4.5-kilobyte ceiling of the Ouroboros Praos system.
Achieving these goals depends on governance votes and performance testing. The network still operates under Conway rules on the public testnet and awaits the release of new node versions to begin the transition to the Dijkstra protocol.
Updates to the Leios prototype reinforce the verification of cryptographic certificates and block announcements. These technical changes require testnet restarts but do not impact the stability of Cardano's current mainnet.
