British asset manager Aviva has expanded its activity on the XRP Ledger by introducing a new class of tokenized shares for its liquidity fund. The 50 million pound investment in the Sterling Liquidity Fund brings the company's total commitment to network-based offerings to more than 86 million pounds.
The Ireland-domiciled fund invests in short-term debt instruments with high credit ratings. The structure uses a digital twin model to represent ownership on the distributed ledger. This marks the manager's second initiative, following the launch of a tokenized version of its dollar fund in July.
The issuance utilizes the network's Multi-Purpose Token standard. This feature allows financial institutions to set specific rules for asset custody and recovery. Applied restrictions include requirements for holder authorization and a prohibition on direct transfers between investors.
The move coincides with Ripple's expansion into round-the-clock corporate cash management services. The company also secured authorization from a United States regulator to operate its own national trust bank. These advancements aim to consolidate the firm's institutional financial infrastructure.
Analysts note that technological adoption by major asset managers does not necessarily imply direct demand for the XRP asset. The developing institutional infrastructure may influence risk perception and crypto market liquidity by integrating traditional finance with digital ledger systems.
