Solana Imposes 1 SOL Fee for Bug Reports
The measure aims to curb a flood of AI-generated submissions that are overwhelming security engineers.

The team behind the Firedancer software for the Solana network has implemented a 1 SOL fee for every vulnerability report submitted. This amount is permanently burned and non-refundable, even in cases of invalid or duplicate submissions.
The change follows an audit contest that recorded 809 reports in just one month. The technical team believes that artificial intelligence tools were used to create nearly every message sent.
This influx of low-quality submissions created a backlog of nearly 300 pending reports. Such volume prevented engineers from dedicating enough time to analyze real flaws that could compromise transaction processing or account balances on the network.
Firedancer serves as an alternative to the Agave software and is essential for transaction validation within the Solana ecosystem. The new policy seeks to filter out speculative submissions and ensure that experts focus on critical security issues.
In addition to the fee, the platform has limited report sizes to 3,000 characters. To offset the cost, payouts for legitimate discoveries have been doubled until November 20.
