Ripple has established an agreement with Robinhood to expand the presence of its digital dollar, RLUSD. The collaboration focuses on strengthening commercial ties between the institutional sectors of both companies.
The project uses RLUSD to settle institutional trades and automate Robinhood's treasury management. The initiative also integrates services from Ripple Prime and the Bitstamp exchange to facilitate the funding and trading of digital assets.
This move supports Robinhood's goal of acting as a global financial super-app. The infrastructure seeks to centralize users' financial lives while meeting the demands of both institutional and retail clients.
Stablecoins have moved beyond being mere trading tools to become fundamental pieces of financial infrastructure. The ability to perform near-instant settlements allows institutions to operate around the clock, overcoming the limitations of traditional banking hours.
The expansion of digital assets into institutional settlement systems can increase capital efficiency and reduce reliance on banking hours. This tends to boost liquidity in the crypto market and influence risk perception for dollar-pegged assets.
