Healthcare companies and financial institutions are offering higher salaries than tech firms to hire software experts. This shift comes amid a surge in demand for professionals skilled in artificial intelligence.
Global research data reveals that the healthcare sector pays software engineers up to 17% more than tech companies. In the banking segment, salary offers are as much as 13% higher for the same roles.
The current landscape reflects a change in hiring dynamics following significant cuts in the tech industry. About 55% of organizations outside the tech sector report that they are recruiting professionals who were laid off by industry giants.
The volume of job openings requiring knowledge of artificial intelligence has grown fivefold over the past year. Companies are looking to implement new technologies to explore business potential that was previously unreachable.
Major tech companies saw a 54% increase in layoffs during the first nine months of 2026 compared to the previous year. Microsoft, Oracle, Meta, and Block reduced their staff significantly during this period.
