RUNE Token Jumps 15% After THORChain Resumes Operations
Protocol restores swaps across ten networks following a technical pause triggered by an Ethereum block reorganization error.
The RUNE token climbed 15% over the last 24 hours as THORChain resumed most of its activities. The protocol had suspended trading since last weekend due to a technical glitch.
The disruption occurred after a block reorganization on the Ethereum network. The system credited a 10 Ether deposit that was later removed by the reorganization. This triggered an incorrect refund and activated an automatic security pause across the entire network.
Currently, ten of the thirteen external networks listed by the protocol are functioning normally. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and other networks have had their swaps reactivated. BNB Smart Chain, Cosmos Hub, and Solana remain under suspension alerts.
The incident also impacted the movement of funds linked to cyberattacks. Analysts noted that the technical pause temporarily delayed the money laundering process for digital assets carried out by hacker groups linked to North Korea.
The resumption of operations allows for cross-chain swaps through the protocol once again. Developers continue to work on normalizing the networks that still face restrictions.
