Justin Sun Seeks Sanctions Against World Liberty Financial
Tron founder claims Trump-linked firm hid UAE ties to evade US federal jurisdiction
Tron network founder Justin Sun has asked a federal court in California to impose sanctions on World Liberty Financial. The legal dispute involves a 45 million dollar investment in WLFI tokens made by Sun. The entrepreneur claims he was misled and that his assets were illegally frozen by the platform.
The legal conflict centers on the company's nationality and the authority of the US federal court. Sun alleges that World Liberty Financial initially omitted the existence of partners with citizenship in the United Arab Emirates. This information was only revealed after the lawsuit began, which changes the legal basis for the case proceedings.
According to the investor, the late disclosure regarding the corporate structure serves as a strategy to remove the case from federal jurisdiction. The company's defense now argues that the court lacks the authority to hear the dispute. Sun contests this position and points out that the company's promotional material describes it as an American business.
The lawsuit highlights the complexity of ownership structures in crypto asset companies. Sun stated that he intends to move the action to a California state court after the sanctions request is resolved. World Liberty Financial, for its part, accuses the investor of manipulating token prices through short-selling operations.
