US Private Sector Adds 86,000 Jobs in October
The result topped market expectations and reflects steady hiring momentum
The United States private sector added 86,000 new jobs in October. This figure surpassed the 75,000 positions projected by financial market analysts.
Gains were spread across several sectors of the economy. Trade, transportation, and utilities led the way with 39,000 new hires. Education and health services added 28,000 positions, while leisure and hospitality contributed 19,000.
The report also highlighted wage trends. Workers who changed jobs saw a 4.8% annual increase in their pay. Meanwhile, professionals who stayed in their current roles received a 3% raise during the period.
Some sectors saw a decline in headcount. Professional and business services lost 27,000 jobs. The information sector, which includes artificial intelligence development, recorded a drop of 2,000 positions.
ADP data serves as a preview for the official government employment report, known as the payroll, which will be released on Friday. The market is awaiting these figures to assess the health of the American labor market.
