US Job Openings Rise to 7.52 Million in September
The figure beats market expectations and shows labor demand resilience ahead of the payroll report.
The United States labor market saw significant growth in job openings during September. The total reached 7.52 million, an increase of 333,000 positions compared to August. The result surpassed analyst projections, which expected a volume near 7.15 million.
Beyond the creation of new positions, the report showed a decline in layoffs and an increase in actual hiring. The manufacturing sector and professional services were the primary drivers of labor demand. The number of people who left their jobs voluntarily also grew, reaching 3.36 million.
Currently, the American economy records about 1.05 available jobs for every unemployed worker. This scenario of low turnover and hiring resilience persists even in the face of inflationary pressures and high energy costs. The data serves as an important barometer before the release of the official non-farm payroll report.
Strengthening labor demand may influence perceptions regarding the path of American interest rates, directly impacting risk appetite and the value of the dollar against other global currencies.
