Several states activated military personnel for technical support during the midterm elections with no federal troops at polling stations.

Several US states have called up members of the National Guard to assist with the 2026 midterm elections. The primary focus of this mobilization is cybersecurity support and other logistical tasks requested by local leadership.

The National Guard Bureau clarified that no federal forces were sent to polling locations. The institution emphasized that the operation is taking place under the direct command of state governors within their legal authority.

The organization reiterated that there are no plans to federalize military personnel during the election. The decision to utilize these forces follows the specific legislation of each state involved in organizing the polls.

The role of the National Guard remains limited to technical and administrative support. Federal command maintains a policy of non-interference at polling stations throughout the voting process.
