Tokenized Stock Dispute Shapes Robinhood Earnings
Companies push back against asset tokenization as Robinhood expands its blockchain infrastructure

A growing movement of public companies is trying to block the tokenization of their shares on trading platforms. The Common Sense Leadership Fund published an ad in the Wall Street Journal warning CEOs about risks such as market manipulation and a lack of investor protection. The deadline for companies to request the removal of their assets from these platforms is currently in focus.
The number of companies opposing the listing of their shares in token format rose from nine to 22 in just eight days. Among the names rejecting the practice are giants like Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo. The OKX-ICE platform even changed its rules to allow issuers to control tokenization themselves, but no company accepted the offer.
Robinhood is at the center of this debate due to its role in the sector. The company's network recorded 13.7 billion dollars in tokenized stocks during the third quarter. This volume represents one-fifth of all activity on the company's network since its launch in July.
Robinhood's architecture relies heavily on these assets to support new financial products. Projects that combine memecoins with tokenized shares of companies like Nvidia and Tesla drive much of the current volume. The removal of these tokens could compromise the operational structure of several services integrated into the platform's ecosystem.
Regulatory uncertainty regarding the digital representation of traditional assets may increase the perception of systemic risk among crypto investors. Changes in custody and trading rules tend to impact the global liquidity of digital assets that mirror the stock market.
