Oncoclínicas Gains More Support for Debt Restructuring Plan
Company reaches 74.6% creditor approval to restructure R$ 5.8 billion in debt
Oncoclínicas has moved forward in its financial restructuring process by securing support from creditors holding over R$ 4.3 billion in claims. This amount represents 74.6% of the total debt base covered by the plan which totals approximately R$ 5.8 billion. The figure exceeds the legal minimum requirement of one-third needed for judicial approval.
The current plan replaces the version presented in August when the scope of renegotiation was R$ 5.1 billion. The new proposal includes varied payment terms and specific discounts for strategic suppliers. The company is seeking to reorganize its liabilities after facing difficulties stemming from an expansion strategy focused on hospital acquisitions.
The company's path shifted after its 2021 IPO when it diversified operations beyond cancer treatment. A lack of expertise in managing high-complexity hospitals forced the firm to sell acquired assets and cancel projects for new units. These measures aim to stabilize operations and refocus on its core oncology business.
Out-of-court restructuring allows the company to negotiate directly with its creditors without the need for a full bankruptcy process. Filing the updated version of the plan is a decisive step for the group's financial sustainability. The company continues negotiations to finalize the agreement with its creditor base.
