GPA Reports R$ 731 Million Loss in Third Quarter
Consolidated results reflect legal provisions and declining revenue amid an out-of-court restructuring process.
GPA posted a consolidated net loss of R$ 731 million between July and September of this year. This result reverses the R$ 134 million profit recorded during the same period last year.
In continuing operations, the loss reached R$ 220 million. This performance was impacted by the absence of tax credits that had bolstered the 2025 balance sheet.
Discontinued operations generated a loss of R$ 511 million. This figure includes a R$ 467 million provision related to an arbitration case with Casas Bahia.
The company's net revenue fell 9.6% year-over-year, totaling R$ 4.12 billion. The firm attributed the decline to a strategy of prioritizing profitability and the discontinuation of certain business lines.
Consolidated adjusted EBITDA rose 16.9% to reach R$ 482 million. The chain's gross margin increased to 30.7% due to lower operating expenses and gains in logistics efficiency.
The group's net debt ended September at R$ 3.8 billion. Management is banking on the approval of its out-of-court restructuring plan to reduce debt and stabilize operations.
