Bitcoin and Gold Rise Following US Elections
Joint rally reignites debate over hedging against dollar devaluation and rising national debt.
Bitcoin surpassed the 81,000 dollar mark following the election period in the United States. This move occurred in parallel with the rise of gold, which recorded a daily gain of 3.4 percent and reached 4,061.10 dollars.
The simultaneous rise of these assets has brought back the debate regarding strategies to protect against the depreciation of the American currency. Investors are seeking scarce assets to preserve wealth in the face of rising public debt projected by the government.
Data from the Congressional Budget Office shows that the federal deficit could reach 1.9 trillion dollars in 2026. Forecasts suggest that public debt held by the public will reach 120 percent of the Gross Domestic Product by 2036.
The financial market showed distinct reactions as the S&P 500 rose 1.6 percent and the Dow Jones advanced 3 percent. The drop in Treasury bond yields suggests that optimism regarding reduced political uncertainty also boosted prices.
The correlation between Bitcoin and gold has reached high levels in recent months, exceeding 0.50 over 90-day periods. This behavior reinforces the view that the digital asset is used by investors as a store of value similar to the precious metal.
