Coinbase reported 1.20 billion dollars in revenue for the third quarter. The figure fell short of the 1.23 billion dollars projected by analysts. The company saw a decline in monthly active users, which dropped from 9.3 million to 7.4 million over the past year.
The subscription and services segment performed well with 570 million dollars in revenue. The company maintained its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for the fifteenth consecutive quarter. Its share of total digital asset trading volume rose to 10.7 percent.
CEO Brian Armstrong established a plan to sell up to 8.17 million Class A shares. Other executives, including co-founder Fred Ehrsam and President Emilie Choi, also organized sale plans totaling 13.6 million shares. The transactions are scheduled to occur through October 2027.
The crypto market faces additional pressure due to a security breach at Binance. The incident involved an estimated 6.3 billion dollars in assets. The company stated that some of the funds were frozen with the help of industry partners.
Instability at major trading platforms and executive stock sales are increasing the perception of systemic risk in the digital asset sector. This scenario may heighten volatility for Bitcoin and other currencies against the dollar during times of operational uncertainty.
