BNP Paribas posted a net profit of 3.46 billion euros for the third quarter. The result surpassed the 3.23 billion euro average projected by market analysts.
The positive performance was driven by the equity trading sector. This specific division saw a 50% jump in revenue during the period.
Total bank revenue grew 9.5% to reach 13.76 billion euros. The corporate and institutional banking arm led the improvement in financial figures.
The institution confirmed the start of a 1.3 billion euro share buyback program beginning in November. The measure reflects management's confidence in the current capital structure.
The bank stated that its exposure to France's fiscal crisis is limited. This declaration aims to reduce concerns regarding the impact of French public debt on the company's balance sheets.
