High Arab Voter Turnout Pressures Netanyahu Government
Palestinian citizens of Israel vote in record numbers and may block the right-wing coalition from securing a parliamentary majority.

The historic turnout of Palestinian citizens in Israel's parliamentary elections puts Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's hold on power at risk. In several Arab cities, participation rates exceeded 70 percent. This figure contrasts with recent history, which typically ranged between 45 and 65 percent.
This electoral movement is a direct response to the rhetoric of the current right-wing coalition. Measures such as the attempt to establish settlements on Palestinian land in the Galilee motivated voters who previously abstained. The main goal of this group is to prevent the continuation of a government that Arab leaders describe as hostile.
Parties such as the Joint List and the United Arab List could win up to 17 seats in parliament. This result would be enough to block the 61-seat majority Netanyahu needs to govern. The current scenario points to a political stalemate as the final count depends on ballots that have not yet been processed.
Analysts note that political instability in Israel creates uncertainty regarding the future direction of the country's domestic and foreign policies.
