Yemen Government Reports Iranian and Hezbollah Experts Helping Houthis
The Interior Ministry says 21 foreign nationals are assisting Houthi military planning and attacks on commercial vessels.
The Yemeni government has denounced the presence of 21 foreign experts working directly with the Houthis. According to the Interior Ministry, 14 members belong to Iran's Revolutionary Guard and seven are linked to the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
Minister Ibrahim Haidan stated that the collaboration has evolved from supplying weapons to managing operations directly. The experts are reportedly stationed in cities like Hodeidah and Sanaa to coordinate the use of ballistic missiles and drones.
Their activities include developing explosive boats and autonomous underwater vehicles. The Yemeni government highlighted that these agents help select commercial ships as targets in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb strait.
The statement calls for the international community to enforce stricter arms embargoes. The government claims that the transfer of military knowledge threatens regional stability and the flow of vessels along this strategic maritime route.
This escalation follows the end of a period of calm that began in 2022. The conflict in Yemen, which started in 2014, now involves fighting across five different provinces.
