Russian Strikes on Aid Center Leave 26 Dead in Ukraine
Bombing hit a school used for aid distribution in the Zaporizhzhia region
At least 26 people died after a series of Russian airstrikes in the village of Komyshuvakha. The site hit was a school that served as a humanitarian aid distribution center in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky detailed that the offensive occurred in two distinct stages. Russian forces initially launched aerial bombs against the school structure.
Shortly after the first impact, a new attack was carried out with nine more bombs. The secondary target was the shelter where residents had gathered for protection.
Zelensky stated that Russia had the opportunity to follow through with humanitarian measures after recent actions in Oleshky. The Ukrainian government declared that Moscow chose to intensify civilian deaths instead of seeking to de-escalate the conflict.
The war remains unstable as the lethality of bombings against the civilian population increases. Ukrainian troops maintain resistance on the ground while facing the impact of these constant airstrikes.
