MicroStrategy Resumes Bitcoin Buying With $66 Million Investment
The firm acquired 811 units of the cryptocurrency and repurchased $208 million in preferred shares.
MicroStrategy has resumed its Bitcoin accumulation strategy by acquiring 811 units of the cryptocurrency over the past week. The total investment reached $65.5 million with an average cost of $80,846 per unit. The operation took place between October 26 and November 1.
To fund this move, the company sold more than 1.1 million of its own common shares which generated $164 million in net proceeds. Part of this amount was added to the company's dollar cash reserves. The remaining funds were used to repurchase floating-rate preferred shares.
MicroStrategy's current balance sheet shows ownership of 849,327 Bitcoin units. The total acquisition cost for this amount reached $64.08 billion over time. The average purchase price for the company's entire holdings is approximately $75,451 per unit.
In addition to digital asset purchases, the company allocated $208.2 million to repurchase preferred shares. This move reduced the dollar cash balance to $132.7 million. The reserve set aside to cover dividends and debt interest remains at $4.79 billion.
The strategy of continuous allocation into digital assets by large corporate treasuries influences the perception of Bitcoin's supply scarcity in the global market. Increased institutional exposure tends to raise the asset's volatility and liquidity during periods of high demand.
