Developers on the XRP Ledger have introduced a proposal to allow the creation of accounts without an initial XRP balance. The mechanism, called SponsoredAccountCreate, enables an existing account to take responsibility for the mandatory reserve of new addresses.

Currently, the network requires a minimum reserve of 1 XRP for every active wallet. This amount remains locked to prevent the accumulation of empty accounts. The change intends to facilitate the operation of payment applications and artificial intelligence agents that utilize stablecoins.

Under the new system, the cost of the reserve would shift from the end user to the sponsoring entity. This same structure could cover transaction fees on behalf of users. The initiative seeks to expand the adoption of digital assets in integrated applications, such as those using Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin.

The proposal still depends on approval from network validators to take effect. As of now, the sponsorship amendment required to enable the change has not reached the necessary quorum on the mainnet. The code remains in the testing phase with pending revisions.

This change could lower the barrier to entry for new users in stablecoin-based payment ecosystems. The increased flexibility in liquidity management on blockchain networks tends to boost the operational efficiency of global financial platforms.
