SpaceX has completed a $40 billion debt financing deal. The primary goal of this capital is to acquire graphics processing units known as GPUs. These components are essential to support the company's artificial intelligence systems.
Elon Musk confirmed the transaction on a social media platform. The executive highlighted that the company maintains an investment-grade rating. Revenue generated from Starlink satellite internet services and rocket launches supports the operation. The agreement was finalized with an entity managed by Apollo.
The debt is classified as redeemable and the delivery schedule for the chips is set for the first and second quarters of 2027. The artificial intelligence division, internally called Super Intelligence, has become the organization's largest business arm. In the third quarter, revenue for this segment grew ninefold compared to the previous year.
The technology sector faces high demand for capital to fund data infrastructure. Musk noted that access to credit is restricted for companies that rely exclusively on AI data centers. He projects that many cloud infrastructure companies will face bankruptcy and consolidation in the coming years.
The move reinforces the concentration of capital in high-performance hardware within the global market. The scarcity of funding for smaller firms may increase volatility in risk assets and shift liquidity toward companies with solid revenue streams outside of the tech sector.
