Company seeks $20 billion in funding while strengthening global partnerships in AI chips and infrastructure

OpenAI has established four new agreements in Abu Dhabi spanning the energy, government, and investment sectors. This initiative comes as the company seeks to raise $20 billion in a new funding round backed by regional investors.

CEO Sam Altman met with Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to formalize the collaboration. Local partners include the state-owned oil company ADNOC and the Mubadala fund, which will focus on applying artificial intelligence models to financial analysis and public policy.

Simultaneously, Altman visited South Korea to strengthen ties with semiconductor manufacturers. The executive held talks with leaders from Samsung and the SK Group to discuss the supply of high-bandwidth memory chips and the development of data centers.

These actions are part of Project Stargate, which aims to expand the global infrastructure needed to support OpenAI's cutting-edge technology. The strategy reinforces the company's reliance on international partnerships to secure the hardware support and capital required for growth.
