OpenAI will make its artificial intelligence models available to developers through Google Cloud. This initiative expands the distribution of its technology to the corporate sector and ends the previous exclusivity held by Microsoft.
With this new integration, OpenAI's GPT products will be present on the three largest cloud infrastructure providers in the world. Amazon began hosting these models six months ago, shortly after Microsoft's exclusivity agreements concluded.
Google Cloud recorded an 82% annualized revenue growth in the second quarter of this year. This performance was driven by high demand for artificial intelligence models and custom chips, outpacing the expansion rate of competitors like Amazon and Microsoft.
OpenAI is looking to diversify its business base beyond end-user applications. The company is currently evaluating investors based on a 1.4 trillion dollar market valuation and is planning an initial public offering.
Historically, OpenAI was founded as a counterpoint to the concentration of AI research within large companies like Google. Despite this, the two firms already maintained a prior technical collaboration for running ChatGPT APIs.
