XRP Ledger Update Delayed to November After Validation Failure
A temporary drop in validator support reset the 14-day countdown required for the fixCleanup3_4_0 update.

The technical update for the XRP Ledger, known as fixCleanup3_4_0, has been rescheduled for November. The activation process requires the network to maintain support from at least 80% of its 35 default validators for an uninterrupted 14-day period.
The issue occurred last Wednesday when support dropped to 26 validators during a two-hour window. Since the consensus rule requires 29 constant votes, any momentary fluctuation interrupts the count and forces the system to restart the verification cycle from scratch.
Monitoring records confirm that support returned to the necessary level shortly after the failure. Currently, 31 out of 35 validators support the change, which provides a larger safety margin for the new implementation attempt scheduled for November 4.
The adjustment aims to fix a flaw that would allow the improper creation of tokens in specific burn scenarios. The update also improves lending rules for the system geared toward financial institutions, which is not yet fully operational.
Technical instability in smart contract networks can increase the perception of operational risk among investors. This affects confidence in the liquidity and stability of digital assets that rely on decentralized infrastructure.
