US Military Grants SpaceX Access to Tracking Data
Elon Musk's company gains restricted military intelligence on space traffic and satellite collisions.

The United States Department of Defense has authorized SpaceX to access restricted space tracking data. This measure allows the company to monitor potential collisions between satellites and other objects in orbit with high precision.
Industry experts note that the decision provides a significant competitive advantage to Elon Musk's company. SpaceX now holds information that was previously managed exclusively by the government's space traffic coordination program.
The move follows staff cuts and budget reductions at the department responsible for traffic control, known as Traccs. Industry observers interpret the change as a step toward the privatization of space route management.
Critics compare the situation to a transport company controlling traffic lights. The central concern lies in the possibility that the company might use such data to favor its own operations to the detriment of direct competitors.
The US Space Force confirmed that it is exchanging commercial data for access to controlled information catalogs. The American space market is projected to grow to nearly 2 trillion dollars over the next decade.
