Mastercard’s $1.8 billion acquisition of BVNK closed in August and gave rise to the Global Money Platform. The new infrastructure lets banks and fintechs hold, convert and spend fiat currency and stablecoins through a single programming interface.

Nuvei and Marqeta are among the first to adopt the technology. The system provides for future support of agentic commerce. The platform unifies balances in traditional accounts and on blockchain, removing the need for separate bridges.

The deeper entry of a major payments network into the regulated ecosystem pushes rivals to offer similar infrastructure. The convergence of banking rails and public networks is speeding up institutional adoption in Brazil and abroad.
