Arthur Hayes has closed Maelstrom's directional positions in the cryptocurrency market. On-chain data analysts tracked sales totaling approximately 26 million dollars across various tokens.

The move included the sale of Ethereum, Ethena, Uniswap, Ether.fi, Aerodrome Finance, Pendle, and Zama. Ethereum accounted for the bulk of the transactions, with about 19 million dollars in assets liquidated.

Hayes justified the decision as profit-taking in the face of growing macroeconomic and geopolitical instability. The executive stated that he prefers to maintain a cautious stance until market conditions provide greater clarity.

This strategy marks a significant shift from the optimistic projections he shared in September. At that time, the manager held expectations for year-end gains based on the potential expansion of dollar liquidity by the Federal Reserve.

Bitcoin remains the long-term structural custody asset for Maelstrom. Meanwhile, positions in Ethereum and decentralized finance tokens were treated as speculative bets that have now been abandoned by the manager.
